NEW YORK -- What's being described as the largest LEGO model ever assembled was unveiled in Times Square Thursday.

The structure was made to resemble a life-size 'Star Wars' X-wing starfighter. It's 42 feet long with a 44 foot-wide wingspan and took more than a year to put together by 32 builders in the Czech Republic.

The model consists of 5,335,200 LEGO's and weighs 45,979.61 pounds. Beneath the LEGO's is a steel skeleton.

The X-wing also has a photo booth in the cockpit, engines that light up and sound effects.

The LEGO X-wing will remain in Times Square through Sunday, May 26. It will then be installed at LEGOLAND in California.
