SAN DIEGO -- One of the San Diego Zoo’s newest additions is slowly starting to walk.
The zoo announced this week that their 11-week-old panda cub took baby steps on Thursday during a veterinary examination.
The cub may be able to walk on all four legs in a couple of weeks, but it will be at least a few more months before he’s able to be placed on exhibit.
Scientists at the San Diego Zoo are studying the cub’s development by observing his behavior and classifying what they observe based on an ethogram used for the six panda cubs that have been born at the zoo since 1999.
Animal lovers can watch the panda cub attempt to walk from home via the zoo’s 24-hour, live online feed.
