PEORIA, Ariz. -- Police arrested a young male who allegedly stole a car from a woman in a grocery store parking Tuesday afternoon.

There was a short police pursuit of the suspect who was driving the stolen vehicle following the carjacking.

Police were called to the Fry's Food Store at 91st Avenue and Union Hills Drive just after 12 p.m. after a woman was pulled from her car by the suspect.

"The suspect got in her vehicle, hit another vehicle on his way out before he headed eastbound on Union Hills," said Peoria Police Department spokeswoman Amanda Jacinto in a statement released on YouTube.

A short time later, officers were able to spot the car near Grovers and 43rd avenues in Phoenix. They then followed that car to a business near 35th Avenue and Bell Road.

"At that time that suspect got out of the car and fled to nearby apartment complex where officers were finally able to take him into custody," said Jacinto.

The victim has minor injuries and she is helping police with the investigation.
