PHOENIX -- Finally our weather models are justifying what we’ve been seeing for a few days now; we’re probably going to see 100 degrees for the first time this year in the Valley this weekend.

If not Sunday, then Monday. A ridge of high pressure will supply lots of sunshine and dry weather.

That combination this time of year will result in triple-digit readings in the deserts and around metro Phoenix. In northern Arizona, it will also be unseasonably warm and the state will be very dry this weekend.

It’s about time. Over the past 30 years, we’ve gotten to 100 degrees for the first time on May 2. So at this rate, it looks like we’re going to be a bit early.

As for the summer, getting to 100 early or late really isn’t much of a factor on how hot it’s going to be.

The latest 90-day outlook is calling for better-than-even chances of hotter than normal weather this summer in Arizona, and about average rainfall.
