PHOENIX -- Some 10,000 flags planted on the grounds of University of Phoenix offer a special Memorial Day message to those who have sacrificed in service to our country.

Dozens of volunteers planted the U.S. flags Tuesday morning. From the Fort McDowell Casino News Chopper, the message is clear: "All gave some. Some gave all."

"The flag display represents a meaningful symbol of appreciation to those service members who sacrificed their lives for our county's freedom," reads a news alert from University of Phoenix. The flags will be donated to local veteran cemeteries at week's end.

This is not the first time University of Phoenix has created such a beautiful display of patriotism. Last Memorial Day, volunteers used thousands of flags to spell the word "remember."

As part of its Memorial Day celebration this year, University of Phoenix is urging people to make donations to the American Red Cross.

"The ARC is a lifeline for deployed servicemembers, allowing them to communicate to loved ones back home during emergencies and provide social services, emergency travel, financial assistance and mental health support for returning servicemembers and their families."

In addition to the flag tribute, which will be in place until Friday, University of Phoenix also has put together an online Military Tribute Wall and invites the public to post messages.

University of Phoenix is located at 4045 S. Riverpoint Parkway (Interstate 10 and University Drive), Phoenix.

Memorial Day is Monday.
