SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- The teen arrested in connection with two sexual assaults in Scottsdale is being charged as an adult.

Police made the announcement on Saturday, adding that the teen was being transported to the 4th Avenue Jail.

On Friday evening, police announced that they had arrested a 16-year-old male believed to be responsible for the October 18 and 24 crimes.

Police said they were able to identify the teen as the suspect through their investigative efforts and forensic evidence, adding that at least one of the victims was able to give a positive identification.

The teen was arrested in the 10000 block of N. Scottsdale Rd. Police said they were able to collect additional evidence after conducting a search of the teen's home.

The teen is facing charges of sexual assault, kidnapping, and burglary, and could be charged with additional crimes.

"This is the kind of case where the detectives don't sleep much at night knowing this persons out here," said Sgt. Mark Clark with Scottsdale Police. "It's a relief, but there's still a lot of work going on."

The teen is the second person to be arrested in the case.

Ryan Festa, 22, was originally the primary suspect in the case. Festa had turned himself in to police after seeing the coverage of the story on TV, which included a sketch of the suspect.

Festa was arrested, but eventually released from jail when the judge decided to drop the charges because the lab evidence had yet to process.

On Thursday, DNA evidence taken from the two victims cleared Festa of any involvement in the case.
