SURPRISE, Ariz. -- Surprise Police arrested nine people on Wednesday after discovering that they were illegally living in a vacant home.

Officers were patrolling in the area of 16500 N. Queen Esther Drive when they were approached by an individual who needed help resolving a civil dispute.

Police followed the individual inside the home and discovered that the water, electricity, and gas were being illegally diverted from another home in the neighborhood.

Police said they went on to learn that nine people were living in the home, and had been doing so after discovering that the house was empty. Officers also reportedly found drugs and drug paraphernalia in the house.

Nicholas Dylewsky, 45, was arrested for burglary, theft of services, and criminal damage. Nicole Ortiz, 20, was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia and trespassing.

Rosendo Escobedo, 34; John Pedicord, 24; Christy Suffal, 33; Joseph Hernandez, 23; Vanessa Gonzales, 20; Joe Tovar, 39; and Lewis Escobedo, 55, were also arrested for trespassing.
