FLORENCE -- Authorities are searching for an inmate who has escaped from the minimum-security North Unit at the Arizona State Prison Complex-Florence.

State Department of Corrections officials say 20-year-old Yelson Moreno was discovered missing at 11 a.m. Sunday and he escaped by cutting a hole in a perimeter fence.

The Arizona Department of Corrections K-9 units have been joined in the search for Moreno by police from Florence, Casa Grande and Gila River Indian Community along with the Pinal County Sheriff's Department.

Authorities say Moreno is a Mexico native who started serving a 30-month sentence for theft out of Pinal County on June 23.
