GLENDALE, Ariz. -- The search continues to bring 5-year old Jahessye Shockley home. She vanished Tuesday afternoon and was last seen near 45th and Glendale Avenues.

The search area initially covered an area from 51st to 43rd avenues, and from Glendale Avenue to Bethany Home Road, but it has now expanded east into Phoenix. Teams are looking for Jahessye, who was last seen playing in her neighborhood around 4 p.m. Tuesday. She has brown eyes and black hair, which she was wearing in a ponytail. She had on a white T-shirt, jeans and pink sandals.

Searches in the air and on foot have continued. Some people living nearby were awakened Wednesday morning by officers asking to go through their homes to look for Jahessye. They were also stopping cars going in and out of the neighborhood to look inside and go through their trunks.

Late Tuesday local, state and federal teams continued to interview Jahessye's mother for information, including if she or the family had any enemies that could have taken her daughter. Detectives are not calling this an official abduction. They say the next step is to expand the search through neighborhoods to the north Thursday morning.
