PHOENIX -- A series of storms dropping down from the Mogollon Rim on Wednesday were weakening as they approached the Valley, until a gust front from Tucson energized the storms.
As a result, we saw widespread showers and thunderstorms and very windy conditions. The peak wind gust report on our Forecast Net was 57 mph in Apache Junction.
It's quite likely winds gusts were slightly stronger than that in many areas.
As far as rainfall was concerned, one rain gauge in Peoria got nearly 1/2" of rain, but most areas didn't get that much. Sky Harbor Airport did get .03" of rain, the 4th day of measureable rain so far this year.
The storms are over for the night so a cool morning is ahead.
But beginning Thursday, we're going to warm up quickly. Expect 100 readings by Friday afternoon.
