PHOENIX -- A hot and humid day is expected for Wednesday. The day started with clear skies and mild temperatures across the state, but we warmed up quickly.
This afternoon's temperatures should peak near 104 degrees under partly sunny skies. In the Valley, there's a 30 percent chance of storms today. Chances for rain continue tonight when mostly cloudy skies are expected.
Mostly cloudy conditions are forecast for both Thursday and Friday along with a 60 percent chance of rain and thunderstorms. Tropical moisture moving into Arizona from both the Gulf of Mexico and the Eastern Pacific will lead to the possibility for heavy rain, with several inches possible in the high country of Northern and Eastern Arizona.
In the Valley, we could see between 0.5 and 1 inch of rain between Thursday and Friday. Both days are expected to be somewhat cooler, with afternoon highs in the 90s.
For Labor Day weekend, look for partly sunny skies and a 30 percent chance of showers on Saturday. There is only a slight chance of storms for Sunday and Monday. Highs should top out near 100 degrees each day this weekend.
