FLORENCE -- Authorities have captured an inmate who escaped from the minimum-security North Unit at the Arizona State Prison Complex-Florence.
State Department of Corrections officials say 20-year-old Yelson Moreno was discovered missing at 11 a.m. Sunday after he escaped by cutting a hole in a perimeter fence.
Two Arizona Department of Corrections officers and a Pinal County Sheriff's deputy tracked Moreno to a field near a chile farm near Casa Grande, where he was tackled and taken into custody late Monday afternoon.
Authorities say Moreno is a Mexico native who started serving a 30-month sentence for theft out of Pinal County on June 23.
They say Moreno will be sent to a maximum security unit at the Arizona State Prison Complex-Eyman in Florence.
