PHOENIX -- During a celebration at the Capitol Tuesday morning, Gov. Jan Brewer declared today -- Feb. 14, 2012 -- Arizona Centennial Day.
That proclamation read in part:
"... [O]ne hundred years ago today, on Feb. 14, 1912 -- after nearly 49 years as a United States territory and thousands of years as a sacred home to Native people -- Arizona became the 48th, and last, of the contiguous states to enter the union of the United States of America.
'... Arizona continues to be recognized for it cultural and natural beauty, a high quality of life and its innovation in all fields ...."
