GLENDALE, Ariz. -- A Glendale police car was involved in an accident Friday night at the intersection of 67th Avenue and Union Hills.
According to police, the cop car was heading south on 67th Avenue on its way to a call when the officer stopped for a red light at the intersection at Union Hills.
The officer briefly stopped and looked both ways at the red light, but as the car started through the intersection it was struck by an SUV heading eastbound on Union Hills.
Three people were in the SUV, including a young girl.
The police officer and one person from the SUV were taken to the hospital, but authorities said it was just precautionary.
The driver of the SUV and the girl were both treated at the scene.
Police said it does not appear as if speed or impairment were factors in the crash.
