PHOENIX -- Denny's is once again offering free Grand Slam® breakfasts to everyone at all of its restaurants throughout the country today. Bruce Haffner stopped by the Denny's at Seventh Street and Camelback Road, and found quite a line. You have until 2 p.m. to get your free breakfast.
Like they did last year, Denny's announced today's promotion in a series of ads that ran during the Super Bowl. The campaign warned chickens that today was going to be a tough day for them.
The Original Grand Slam® features two pancakes, two eggs, two bacon strips and two sausage links.
Denny’s first introduced the Grand Slam breakfast in 1977.
During last year's free-breakfast event, Denny's said it believed it served about 1,400 people at each of its 1,541restaurants nationwide, for a total of more than 2 million visitors. That's more than five times the normal volume.
The company surpassed its own expectations with the promotion. Denny's had anticipated serving about 1.5 million free Grand Slams®.
