PHOENIX -- A sudden death has brought family and friends together for a car wash fundraiser near 43rd Avenue and Thomas Road.
“Whatever we can do so we can give her a proper burial,” said Breanna Gallegos, whose sister was killed earlier this month. “Deanna was a very fun, outgoing, loud-spoken, happy-go-lucky person. You know, a go-getter. She was a very strong person inside, a very beautiful person.”
Deanna Gallegos, 22, was found shot to death on July 11 inside a Glendale home near 49th and Northern avenues. Her boyfriend, 24-year-old Alex Felter, is believed to have pulled the trigger and has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder.
“I'd also like anybody that's going through a domestic violence situation right now to definitely get out of it," Breanna Gallegos said. "The first signs are, you know, possessiveness, jealousy, things like that. That all leads up to domestic violence, which could tragically end in what happened to my sister Deanna."
Breanna Gallegos said the sudden death comes almost two years after her younger brother, 19-year-old Lorenzo Aguilar, was gunned down.
“We're trying to stick together and do what we can for Deanna," she said. "My mom is going through a rough time right now, so if anybody can send out any prayers for her, her name is Yolanda Ramiro."
Deanna Gallegos' funeral is scheduled for Friday, July 25.
