PHOENIX -- A couple of characters from Sesame Street put smiles on the faces of kids Friday at Maricopa Medical Center.
Elmo and Grover visited patients at Arizona Children's Center. Many of the kids there are getting ready for surgery, or are recovering from surgery. They range from routine, to more serious operations.
But the Sesame Street visit was a nice break from treatment.
"I think it goes a lot to healing," said Kyla Mohney, child life coordinator at Arizona Children's Center at Maricopa Medical Center. "Just anything we can do to lift their spirits and bring smiles to their faces helps to heal them."
Elmo and Grover also went to the burn unit at the Arizona Burn Center to entertain kids there too.
"It's a huge impact, especially as characters they can relate to and it's something they've seen on TV," said Mohney. "Just the smiles they've brought has been amazing to watch."
