PEORIA, Ariz. -- The driver of a car crashed into two homes Monday afternoon in a neighborhood near 99th Avenue and Beardsley Road.
The driver was a 91-year-old woman, according to officials on the scene. She was taken to a hospital but her injuries are not serious.
Police say she just missed a pole as she turned a corner. She then crashed into the garages of two homes.
"She missed a big power pole right here and to be able to go through two houses and come out not injured that bad is quite lucky," said Capt. Bob Burkland with the Peoria Fire Department.
It’s unclear what caused the woman to lose control of the car.
There were people in the first home that was hit but they were not in the garage. They did, however, hear the crash.
The people in the second home were away at the time of the crash.
