PHOENIX -- Arizona Department of Public Safety detectives seized more than 60 pounds of heroin from three West Valley homes and arrested two Phoenix men.
The drugs had an estimated street value of about $1.5 million.
In addition to the heroin, detectives with DPS' Narcotics and Organized Crime Bureau also recovered about $250,000. The heroin and cash were packaged and wrapped in electrical tape.
At this point, the investigation indicates the homes served as distribution centers after the heroin was transported to the Phoenix area from across the border, according to DPS officials.
Two people have been arrested so far. Victor Orozco, 53, and Pedro Zazueta-Medina, 56, were booked into the Fourth Avenue Jail for transportation of a narcotic drug for sale, money laundering, conducting an illegal enterprise and conspiracy.
The investigation is ongoing.
