PHOENIX -- A swimming pool is no doubt the place to be during the long Phoenix summer. Some Valley resorts are capitalizing on that by hosting swanky pool parties on the weekends.
As Javier Soto explains, Maricopa County Environmental Services Department is looking to crack down on those events, saying there are health and safety hazards associated with them.
The health concerns come from people eating and drinking in the pools. The safety issues stem from the pools being over capacity.
Authorities are stepping up enforcement of regulations that are already in place.
MCES believes the parties should be limited to hotel guests. Some resorts are already doing that.
The hotels said the parties help boost revenue during the traditionally slow summer season.
