PHOENIX -- After a record hot start to the week, Arizona begins a cooling trend today.

The Valley set a new record with a high temperature of 88 degrees yesterday afternoon. An increase in clouds will keep temperatures a bit cooler today, forecast to rise to the low 80s.  The average "normal" high for this time of year is 71 degrees.

A cold front approaches tomorrow, bringing cooler temperatures in the mid 70s and breezy conditions.  Look for southwesterly winds between 10 and 15 mph tomorrow afternoon and partly cloudy skies.

Wednesday will likely be our coolest day with a high of just 74 degrees.

No rain is expected in the Valley from the storm.  No rain is expected in the next week either as the storm track will stay well to the north.  Today is the 60th day in a row the Valley has had no measurable rain.

After this week's late-week cool-down, temperatures will rebound for the weekend.  Look for partly cloudy conditions this weekend with morning lows in the 50s and afternoon highs in the low 80s.
