GLENDALE, Ariz. -- A 3-year-old boy was pulled from the bottom of a backyard swimming pool on Tuesday afternoon, according to a spokesperson for the Glendale Fire Dept.
The child was at a home near 75th Avenue and Union Hills Drive with his brothers and his grandmother. We're told the brothers were supposed to be watching him. But when one of the brothers went to the bathroom, the 3-year-old somehow slipped away from them into the backyard.
The child somehow got over a fence that's about waist-high on an adult, and fell into the pool. The pool was murky and green, and it's estimated the boy was under water for about three minutes.
When the child was pulled from the bottom of the pool, he did not have a pulse and was not breathing.
"They were able to regain pulses on the child, fortunately, then transferred him right over to the air ambulance for immediate transport to the appropriate facility," says a spokesman from the Glendale Fire Department.
The child was said to be in extremely critical condition at the time of transport.
