PHOENIX -- High pressure is strengthening over the desert southwest. For a few Valley communities, including Tempe and Surprise, that meant the return of 70-degree temperatures Monday afternoon.

Sky Harbor was just shy of the mark, and reported an official high of 69 degrees under sunny skies.

Tranquil weather with unseasonably warm temperatures will continue through the rest of the week.

Tuesday morning, expect a low of 42 in Phoenix with an afternoon high of 70 degrees. For those headed to Christmas Eve services at midnight in the Valley, look for temperatures in the low 50s under clear skies.

Let family members who are flying into the Valley know to pack the flip flops. Christmas Day in Phoenix should top out at 72 after a morning low of 43.

Meanwhile, the Maricopa County Air Quality Control Department designated Christmas Eve and Christmas Day as “No Burn Days.” This means you can't use wood-burning fireplaces, wood-stoves, outdoor fire pits, chimineas, or burn trash, leaves or other materials.

For friends and family flying out of Sky Harbor on Thursday, look for clear skies, a morning low of 43 and an afternoon high of 70.
