PHOENIX -- When was the last time you went to work or school without makeup, and with your hair just as it would be without hot irons or hairspray?
How about doing just that on Friday, May 18? It's a chance to join hundreds of girls and women across the country in a day of being “Only You.”
The “Only You” idea started with two local middle-school girls tired of being judged for the way they look and being pressured to fit in.
Gabby Klein and Michaela Good said they are bombarded with messages from their peers, the media and sometimes even from their families. Those girls have decided that enough is enough and they're hoping to change the norm, at least for a day.
The “Only You” campaign is encouraging teenage girls, and grown ones too, to go all natural on Friday, May 18. This means, while still being well-groomed, girls should go to school or work without makeup or contacts, with natural hair, and wearing clothes they feel the most comfortable in. They say it's time for girls to stop being afraid of being themselves and to be proud of who they are.
Join the women of 3TV and take part in the message and the effort to change the face of beauty not only in schools, but in the workplace. You can check out their event on Facebook at www.facebook.com/betheoneandonlyyou.
