Before you head out this weekend, make of note of the weekend freeway construction. According to the Arizona Department of Transportation, both the Loop 101 and the State Route 143 will experience closures. Here are the specific times and locations on the ADOT projects:
*Eastbound Loop 101 closed between 51st and Seventh avenues in north Phoenix from 10 p.m. Friday to 4 p.m. Saturday (Nov. 12) for HOV lane project, including final lane striping. Eastbound on-ramps at 67th and 59th avenues closed. DETOUR: Traffic will detour along Beardsley frontage road.
*Westbound Loop 101 closed between State Route 51 and 35th Avenue (near I-17) from 1 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday (Nov. 14) for HOV lane project, including final lane striping. Westbound on-ramps at 56th Street and Tatum Boulevard closed. Northbound SR 51 ramp to westbound Loop 101 also closed. I-17 ramps to westbound Loop 101 open. DETOUR: Westbound Loop 101 traffic can detour south on SR 51 and use westbound Union Hills Drive or Bell Road as an alternate route.
*Southbound State Route 143 closed between McDowell Road and University Drive from 9 p.m. Friday to 9 p.m. Saturday (Nov. 12) for ramp construction. Ramps from westbound Sky Harbor Boulevard and eastbound Loop 202 to southbound SR 143 closed. DETOUR: Consider using southbound 44th Street to University Drive to access southbound SR 143.
*Northbound State Route 143 closed between Sky Harbor Boulevard and Washington Street from 9 p.m. Friday to 9 p.m. Saturday (Nov. 12) for ramp construction. Northbound SR 143 off-ramp to westbound Sky Harbor Boulevard closed. DETOUR: For Sky Harbor Airport access consider using University Drive to northbound 44th Street or use airport’s west end entrance via I-10.
*Eastbound Loop 101 narrowed to two lanes between Bell Road and 51st Avenue in northwest Valley from 4 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday (Nov. 13) for HOV lane project.
