PHOENIX -- Before you head out this weekend, make a note of these construction projects from the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT), so you can avoid the traffic tie-ups:

*Loop 303 closed in both directions between Cactus and Greenway roads in Surprise from 9 p.m. Sunday to 4 a.m. Monday (Jan. 9) for relocation of utility poles. Waddell Road also closed in both directions between Loop 303 and Cotton Lane during same overnight hours. DETOURS: Use Reems Road as Loop 303 alternate route and Cactus or Greenway roads as Waddell Rd. alternate routes.

*Waddell Road closed in both directions between Loop 303 and Sarival Avenue in Surprise beginning at 5 p.m. Sunday through this summer (2012) for construction of a new overpass as part of the Loop 303 Improvement Project. DETOUR: Use Cactus or Greenway roads while this section of Waddell Road is closed.

*Eastbound Interstate 10 right lane closed between the Interstate 17 "Split" and University Drive/32nd Street from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday (Jan. 7) and Sunday (Jan. 8) for utility line repair at the Salt River Bridge near Sky Harbor International Airport. Drivers should obey posted speed limit and work zone signage.
