Before you head out for the weekend, make a note of these weekend freeway construction projects, so you can avoid the headaches.
*Southbound Interstate 17 narrowed to one lane between Indian School Road and the I-10 "Stack" interchange from 9 p.m. Friday to 9 a.m. Saturday (Nov. 13) for lane striping. I-17 ramps to I-10 (both directions) closed. Southbound on- and off-ramps between Indian School and McDowell roads also closed. DETOUR: Consider alternate routes during overnight restriction, including southbound 19th Avenue to access eastbound I-10 or southbound 35th Avenue to access westbound I-10.
* State Route 87 remains narrowed to one lane in each direction in an improvement project work zone approximately four miles north of the Saguaro Lake Turnoff until May. DETOUR: For travel between the Phoenix area and Payson please allow extra time and use caution in the work zone.
*State Route 88 (the Apache Trail) will be closed along a four-mile section between Tortilla Flat and the Apache Lake Turnoff for approximately two months starting Monday (Nov. 15). The closure is scheduled until Jan. 21. Crews will make repairs in areas damaged by runoff from storms over the past year. DETOUR: No through traffic allowed in the closed area near Fish Creek Hill, but access to Canyon and Apache Lakes will remain available via either SR 88 or SR 188.
