Weekend freeway closures/restrictions

Before you head out this weekend, make a note of these weekend freeway closures and restrictions from the Arizona Department of Transporation (ADOT), so you can avoid the traffic tie-ups.

*Loop 303 closed in both directions between Bell Road and US 60 (Grand Ave.) in Surprise from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (Feb. 13) for underground pipe installation as part of the Loop 303 Improvement Project. DETOUR: Use Reems Road to travel beyond Loop 303 closure.

*Eastbound Interstate 10 narrowed to two lanes between 59th and 35th avenues in Phoenix from 11 p.m. Friday to 10 a.m. Saturday (Feb. 11) for sign replacement. Eastbound off-ramp at 51st Avenue also closed. DETOUR: Access 51st Avenue by exiting at 59th Avenue and using eastbound McDowell Road or Van Buren Street.

*Eastbound Interstate 10 in narrowed to two lanes between 43rd Avenue and the Interstate 17 ‘Stack’ Interchange in Phoenix from 10 p.m. Saturday to 10 a.m. Sunday (Feb. 12) for new sign installation. DETOUR: Use caution and be prepared to merge safely in work zone.

*Westbound Loop 202 (Red Mtn. Freeway) closed between Alma School Road and Loop 101 from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday (Feb. 11) for Arizona Centennial Ride. Westbound on-ramps at McKellips and Alma School roads closed. All ramps at Dobson Road interchange closed. DETOUR: Westbound traffic can exit at Alma School Road and use McKellips or McDowell roads to reach Loop 101. 

*Eastbound Sky Harbor Boulevard closed between 44th Street and State Route 143 (Hohokam Expressway) from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday (Feb. 11) for bridge painting. DETOUR: Consider using 44th Street as alternate route.
