Weekend freeway closures and restrictions could slow drivers

Before you head out this weekend, make a note of these weekend freeway closures and restrictions because of Arizona Department of Transporation (ADOT) construciton projects.

*Both southbound Interstate 17 ramps to east- and westbound Loop 101 in north Phoenix closed from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (Feb. 24) for pavement repair. Northbound I-17 ramp to westbound Loop 101 also closed. DETOUR: Please consider using other nearby I-17 exits and local streets, including Deer Valley Road, Union Hills Drive and 19th or 35th avenues, to connect with Loop 101.
 
*Eastbound Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) closed between Power and Elliot roads in Mesa from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (Feb. 24) for work on the future State Route 24 interchange in Mesa. DETOUR: Please use alternate routes, including northbound Power Road to eastbound Elliot Road, to travel beyond the freeway closure.
 
*Westbound Interstate 10 narrowed to one lane at Verrado Way in Buckeye from 9 p.m. Friday to 11 a.m. Saturday (Feb. 22) for pavement repair. Westbound I-10 on- and off-ramps at Verrado Way also closed. DETOUR: Please allow additional travel time, be prepared to slow down and merge safely in work zone. Consider using Jackrabbit Trail to enter or exit I-10 WB.
 
*Southbound Sarival Avenue closed between McDowell Road and Interstate 10 in Goodyear from 11:30 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Monday (Feb. 24) for freeway-bridge work. Northbound Sarival Avenue closed at I-10. DETOUR: Consider using Estrella Parkway as an alternate route to access I-10. Northbound Sarival Avenue traffic will be able to use the eastbound I-10 on-ramp.
