East Valley drivers need to be prepared for major delays and tie-ups. Arizona Department of Transportation crews will closer two different freeway stretches in Chandler. Additionally, the construction on the Loop 101 from Glendale to North Phoenix will likely cause back-ups as well, as road work there will require lane restrictions.
Before you head out this weekend make a note of these construction projects so you can avoid the tie-ups:
*Westbound Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) CLOSED between Gilbert and Price roads in Chandler from 10 p.m. Friday to 8 p.m. Sunday (July 10) for HOV lane construction. DETOUR: Consider using northbound Val Vista Drive or Gilbert Road to westbound Pecos Road to travel beyond the closure.
*Southbound Loop 101 (Price Freeway) CLOSED between Chandler Blvd. and Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) from 10 p.m. Friday to 1 p.m. Saturday (July 9) for sign installation. DETOUR: Traffic can detour along the southbound Price frontage road.
*Loop 101 (Agua Fria Freeway) narrowed to one lane in each direction overnight between Interstate 17 and 51st Avenue from 10 p.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Saturday (July 9) and from 10 p.m. Saturday to 7 a.m. Sunday (July 10) for HOV lane paving and temporary barrier placement.
*Northbound Loop 101 (Agua Fria Freeway) narrowed to one lane overnight in areas between Olive Avenue and Union Hills Drive from 10 p.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Saturday (July 9) for HOV lane paving.
*Northbound Loop 101 (Agua Fria Freeway) narrowed to one lane overnight between Union Hills Drive and 75th Avenue from 10 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday (July 11) for paving.
Freeway project work schedules are subject to change due to inclement weather.
