Before you hit the road this weekend, make a note of these weekend construction closures and restrictions from the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT). Drivers on both the west and east sides of town could see slowing in and around these areas:
*Loop 101 (Price Freeway) closed in both directions between Ray Road and Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) in Chandler from 1 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday (Aug. 10) for pedestrian bridge construction. Both Loop 202 ramps to northbound Loop 101 closed. Southbound Loop 101 on-ramp at Warner Road closed. DETOUR: Loop 101 traffic can detour along frontage roads. Drivers can make connections between Loop 101 and Loop 202 at the Price Road interchange.
*Westbound Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) closed between Elliot and Power roads in southeast Mesa from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (Aug. 12) for work on future State Route 24 interchange. DETOUR: Drivers can use westbound Guadalupe or Elliot roads and southbound Power Road to reach westbound Loop 202.
*Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) closed intermittently at night near Washington Street from 11 p.m. Sunday to 3:30 a.m. Monday (Aug. 12) for overhead utility work. Eastbound Loop 202 on-ramp at Van Buren Street also closed. DETOUR: Drivers can expect two freeway closures lasting up to 15 minutes each while the late night work is underway.
*Grand Avenue (US 60) closed at Myrtle Avenue in Glendale from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (Aug. 12) for traffic signal work. DETOUR: Please consider alternate routes. Eastbound US 60 traffic can use westbound Orangewood Avenue, southbound 67th Avenue and eastbound Bethany Home Road. Westbound traffic can use northbound 57th Avenue, westbound Glendale Avenue, northbound 59th Avenue and westbound Northern Avenue.
*Eastbound Grand Avenue (US 60) narrowed to one lane between Maryland Avenue and Bethany Home Road from 10 a.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (Aug. 12) for storm drain work. DETOUR: Please consider alternate route and allow extra travel time.
