PHOENIX -- The Department of Public Safety is investigating an accident involving a car and a pedestrian at northbound Interstate 17 and the Thunderbird Road on-ramp.
Original reports were that the victim was a woman who was lying on the roadway.
Investigators now say a 17-year-old boy was walking against the walk signal on the entrance ramp when a white Honda hit him at about 8:45 a.m. Monday, according to DPS spokesman Bart Graves.
The teen was transported to a hospital in critical condition.
The driver has not been cited
