VALLEYWIDE -- Several freeways will be shut down this weekend for construction.  Make a note of these projects from the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT).  The closures will affect drivers in the West Valley, East Valley, through Central Phoenix and anyone driving to the Northern Arizona.

*Westbound Interstate 10 closed overnight between the I-17 ‘Split’ near Sky Harbor Airport and Seventh Avenue from 9 p.m. Friday to 9 a.m. Saturday (Sept. 7) for tunnel maintenance. DETOUR: Westbound I-10 traffic will use northbound I-17 and can reconnect with I-10 at the ‘Stack’ interchange. Sky Harbor traffic leaving the airport’s west end can reach westbound I-10 via westbound Buckeye Road to eastbound I-10 and northbound I-17. Airport’s west end ramp connections to northbound State Route 51 and eastbound Loop 202 will be open. Southbound SR 51 ramp to westbound I-10 closed. Westbound Loop 202 traffic can access westbound I-10 but will have to exit at Seventh Street and use detour.

*Westbound Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) closed between Elliot and Power roads in southeast Mesa from 9 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Sunday (Sept. 8) for work on future State Route 24 interchange. Eastbound Loop 202 also narrowed to one lane between Sossaman and Warner roads from 9 p.m. Friday to 6 p.m. Saturday (Sept. 7). DETOUR: Westbound Loop 202 drivers can use westbound Elliot Road to southbound Power Road to travel beyond freeway closure. Please use caution in work zones.

*Loop 303 in West Valley closed for short durations between Thomas and Camelback roads from 5 p.m. Sunday to 9 p.m. Wednesday (Sept. 11) for work to shift traffic along improved freeway. Expect Loop 303 closures of approximately tern minutes. However, northbound Loop 303 on- and off-ramps at Indian School Road and southbound on- and off-ramps at Camelback Road will be closed to traffic. DETOUR: Drivers should plan on using on- or off-ramps at adjacent intersections.

*Northbound Interstate 17
narrowed to one lane at night in areas between Black Canyon City and the Sunset Point Rest Area from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday through Thursday (Sept. 8-12) for maintenance work. Crews will continue the work on a Sunday through Thursday night schedule this fall. Project will include pavement resurfacing starting later in the month. DETOUR: Please be prepared to slow down and merge safely in work zone.
