FOUNTAIN HILLS, Ariz. -- Two people were injured after a semitruck rolled over on State Route 87 (the Beeline Highway) Thursday morning.
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the 18-wheeler rolled over near Gilbert Road at approximately 8:45 a.m.
The truck came to rest on its side off of the roadway.
DPS spokesman Raul Garcia said two occupants of the truck were transported to Scottsdale Healthcare Osborn Medical Center. The extent of their injuries is unknown at this time.
Garcia said there was a diesel spill and a hazmat crew responded to the scene.
The highway was closed in both directions between Shea Boulevard and Gilbert Road at about 9:30 a.m. while crew members worked on the spill.
The northbound lanes reopened shortly before 10 a.m. Southbound S.R. 87 was partially reopened at approximately 11:15 a.m.
Drivers should expect only a single southbound lane will be open for an extended time Thursday as crews continue working to remove the truck. There is no estimated time for both southbound lanes to reopen.
