SUNSET POINT, Ariz. -- A rolled semi truck blocked southbound Interstate 14 near the Sunset Point Rest Area for several hours Thursday morning.

It happened at about 4 a.m. at milepost 251 in Yavapai County.

It's not clear what cause the Safeway semi to roll, but aerial video from the scene showed the trailer lying crosswise across the roadway, blocking it completely. The traffic backup was tremendous.

Firefighters had to extricate the driver from the cab, a process that took quite some time. He was air-lifted to the hospital, but the nature of his injuries and his condition were not immediately available.

The Department of Public Safety was able to reopen one lane of the highway to traffic by 7 a.m.
