Phoenix Traffic on iPhone, Android, BlackBerry

PHOENIX -- After several months of behind-the-scenes work, 3TV and are rolling out brand new mobile applications for the three major smart phone platforms:  iPhone, Android, and BlackBerry.

3TV first launched the Phoenix News App on the iPhone in 2009. User input has driven a number of adjustments, additions, and improvements in this latest version. The new apps represent months of feedback and testing to bring a “next generation” application experience.

Users of the Android platform are getting their own Arizona news app for the first time, as are those who use a BlackBerry to keep tabs on e-mail and the Internet.

Each app is easy to find.  You can either click one of the links above, or simply search “3TV” in your device’s application store. Users of our old iPhone application will be prompted to download the new version from the app store in coming days.

Recent research from Comscore shows Google’s Android platform is the fastest growing in the smart phone industry, coming within three percentage points of Apple’s market share in September figures. Industry leader RIM and its BlackBerry platform is still on top, though it is steadily losing share according to Comscore. Another firm, Nielsen, says more people bought Android-platform phones from March through September than any other type of device.

The applications feature extensive news and weather options, as well as video, sports, blogs and more. Personalized weather conditions will change depending on your location, so if you take a road-trip to Tucson or hop a plane to New York, the app will give you the current traffic and weather conditions wherever you are.

3TV and are always working to bring users news on any platform, whether it’s the traditional TV set, your desktop computer, phones, Twitter, Facebook or even text message. The new applications expand our ability to get news, weather and big story coverage into your hands as quickly as possible.
