SURPRISE, Ariz. – The Arizona Department of Transportation is getting to work on an expansion of Loop 303 in the West Valley.

Crews are ready to start work on a six-mile stretch of Loop 303 between Peoria Avenue and Mountain View Boulevard. They’ll be expanding the two-lane highway to a six-lane (three in each direction) freeway.

Come this fall, crews will also work on a new multi-level freeway-to-freeway interchange at Interstate 10 near Cotton Lane in Goodyear.

Loop 303 segments between I-10 and Peoria Avenue will start next year.

All of the construction should be complete some time in 2014.

Bruce Haffner gave us an aerial view of the Surprise work area from the Fort McDowell News Chopper.
