Map: Fort McDowell Fiesta Bowl Parade Route
The Fort McDowell Fiesta Bowl Parade presented by Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation remains a time-honored Valley tradition and features a dazzling array of colorful floats, magnificent helium balloons, harmonious marching bands and spirited specialty and equestrian units.
This year's parade is Saturday, Jan. 2, at 11 a.m., and there will be several road closures in Central Phoenix for a good portion of the day.
Here's the 411 from the Phoenix Police Department.
Friday, 7 p.m.
Central Avenue will be shut down from Bethany Home Road to Camelback Road so the bleachers can be set up. Missouri Avenue, however, will remain open.
Saturday, 6 a.m.
Bethany Home Road will be closed from Seventh Avenue to Seventh Street.
Seventh Street will be closed from Highland Avenue to Indian School Road. (Indian School itself will remain open to eastbound and westbound traffic.)
The entire route will be shut down, including Central Avenue between Bethany Home and Camelback; Camelback, from Central to 16th Street, and Seventh Street from Camelback to Indian School.
The parade steps off at 11 a.m. and usually runs a couple of hours from start to finish.
Phoenix police hope to have all streets open again by 2 p.m., with the exception of the sporadic closures for crews tearing down bleachers.
It's a great parade to see in person, but if you can't make it, catch all the action live on 3TV and right here on azfamily.com!
