I-10 westbound reopens in Marana; eastbound remains closed

PHOENIX -- Interstate 10 westbound has reopened in Marana following a fatal semi rollover as eastbound lanes remain closed, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

Westbound are now open at Cortaro Road, though some lane restrictions are in place. Eastbound lanes are still closed at Avra Valley Road as crews continue responding to a collision that occurred about noon Friday.

There is no estimated time to reopen eastbound I-10, but drivers should expect an extended closure Friday afternoon.

Traffic is being detoured onto the frontage road to get around the crash, but drivers should expect long delays and consider alternate routes between Phoenix and Tucson.

One alternate includes taking State Route 87 from south of the Phoenix area to SR 287, which will take drivers into Florence. There, drivers can head south on SR 79 to SR 77 (Oracle Road) into Tucson.
