City of Phoenix planned major street restrictions

Drivers should be aware of the following city of Phoenix roadway restrictions and are encouraged to allow for additional travel time.  
 
NEW RESTRICTIONS:
 
ARCADIA DRIVE (48TH STREET) AND LAFAYETTE BOULEVARD
 
Northbound and southbound lanes on Arcadia Drive between Lafayette Boulevard and Indian School Road will be alternately closed to through traffic and will be limited to local access only due to pavement treatment Monday, July 15, until Friday, July 19, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
 
Lafayette Boulevard between Arcadia Drive and 44th Street will remain open to through traffic during the same time periods but all residential cross streets will be temporarily closed during the pavement treatment process.
 
This work is a Maricopa County Flood Control District and city of Phoenix joint project.
 
Local access will be maintained.
 
Drivers are encouraged to allow for additional travel time during this period.
 
BROADWAY ROAD – 17TH TO 24TH STREETS
 
Broadway Road between 17th and 24th streets is scheduled to be restricted on a 24-hour basis to two lanes in each direction beginning 6 a.m., Tuesday, July 16, until Friday, August 30.
 
Local and business access will be maintained.
 
This project is a Southwest Gas utility relocation project which is part of the city of Phoenix Water Services Department sewer main improvements for Broadway Road. 
 
Drivers are encouraged to allow for additional travel time during this period.
 
CAVE CREEK ROAD – BELL ROAD TO UNION HILLS DRIVE
 
Cave Creek Road from Bell Road to Union Hills Drive will be restricted daily from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. beginning Wednesday, July 17, due to a city of Phoenix Street Transportation Department overlay project.  During this time, Cave Creek Road will be restricted to one lane in each direction.  Two northbound lanes will be maintained on weekdays from 6 to 8:30 a.m.
 
Scheduled completion of the project will be the beginning of August.
 
Police officers will be present to assist with traffic control.
 
Business and local access maintained.
 
Drivers are encouraged to allow for additional travel time during this period.
 
GREENWAY ROAD – CAVE CREEK ROAD TO 40TH STREET
 
Greenway Road from Cave Creek Road to 40th Street will be restricted daily from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. beginning on Monday, July 15, due to a city of Phoenix, Street Transportation Department overlay project.  During this time, Greenway Road will be restricted to one lane in each direction.  Two eastbound lanes will be maintained on weekdays from 6 to 8:30 a.m.
 
Scheduled completion of the project will be the beginning of August.
 
Police officers will be present to assist with traffic control.
 
Business and local access maintained.
 
Drivers are encouraged to allow for additional travel time during this period.
 
36TH STREET – MCDOWELL ROAD TO OAK STREET
 
36th Street between McDowell Road and Oak Street is scheduled to be closed on Saturday, July 13, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
 
Local and business access will be maintained.
 
This work is part of a city of Phoenix Street Transportation Department road improvement project.  The project will include traffic calming construction and paving.
 
Drivers are encouraged to allow for additional travel time during this period.
 
SPECIAL EVENTS:
 
None.
 
REOPENING AFTER RESTRICTIONS:
 
None.
 
CONTINUING RESTRICTIONS:
 
Baseline Road - Seventh and 10th streets, partial restriction due to the installation of a new fire line and sewer and driveway improvements, completion scheduled for August.
 
Baseline Road at 14th Street, partial restriction due to a Street Transportation Department Design and Construction Management storm drain installation and associated utility work, completion scheduled for July.
 
Broadway Road – 31st and 35th avenues, partial restriction due to a city of Phoenix Water Department and Talis Construction Corporation water infrastructure improvement project, completion scheduled for mid-July.
 
Buckeye Road – 71st and 75th avenues, currently restricted through Saturday, July 6, on a 24-hour basis due to the installation of new driveway improvements, completion scheduled by mid-July.
 
Dunlap Avenue – 35th and 43rd avenues, partial restriction due to a city of Phoenix Street Transportation overlay project, completion scheduled for July.
 
Flamenco Drive and Country Gables Drive, full closure due to a city of Phoenix Design and Construction Management traffic calming project, completion scheduled for mid-July.
 
Jefferson Street – Central Avenue to First Street, partial restriction due to CityScape’s hotel construction, with completion scheduled for September.
 
Southern Avenue at 22nd Street, partial restriction due to a city of Phoenix Design and Construction Management drainage improvement project, completion scheduled for late July.
 
Village Drive – Camelback Road to 44th Street, full closure due to a Maricopa County Flood Control District and city of Phoenix major storm drain installation project, with completion scheduled for July.
 
19th Avenue, Grand Avenue and McDowell Road intersection - partial restriction due to an Arizona Department of Transportation improvement project of US 60 (Grand Avenue). The project will include pavement improvements, road construction and new right-turn lanes and sidewalks at various locations.  New lighting, landscape, screen walls and fencing will be included in the project, with completion scheduled for December. 19th Avenue -Thomas to Osborn roads, partial restriction due to a city of Phoenix Water Services Department capital improvement project, completion scheduled for August.
 
19th Avenue from Monte Vista Road to Culver Street is scheduled to be restricted on a 24-hour basis to one southbound lane from 6 a.m. Monday, July 8, until Thursday, Aug. 15. 
 
22nd Street – Southern Avenue to Alta Vista Road, full closure due to a city of Phoenix Design and Construction Management drainage improvement project, completion scheduled for late July.
 
24th Street - Osborn to Indian School roads, partial restriction due to a city of Phoenix Design and Construction Management waterline installation project, completion scheduled for July.
 
44th Street – Camelback Road to Colter Street, partial restriction due to a Maricopa County Flood Control District and city of Phoenix joint project, completion scheduled for August.
 
56th Street – State Route 101 to Deer Valley Road, partial restriction due to a city of Phoenix Planning & Development Department storm drain project, completion scheduled for July.
 
Northwest light rail extension - Ongoing restrictions along 19th Avenue and cross streets related to light rail northwest extension construction.  19th Avenue between Bethany Home Road to Dunlap Avenue will be reduced to one lane in each direction for utility relocation.
