PHOENIX PLANNED MAJOR STREET RESTRICTIONS – UPDATED APRIL 19

Drivers should be aware of the following city of Phoenix roadway restrictions and are encouraged to allow for additional travel time:

NEW RESTRICTIONS:

BASELINE ROAD – SEVENTH TO 16TH STREETS
Baseline Road between Seventh and 16th streets is currently restricted due to a city of Phoenix Design and Construction Management storm drain installation project.

The project is expected to be completed in May.

Police officers will be onsite to assist with traffic control.

Drivers are encouraged to allow for additional travel time during this period.

 
CAMELBACK ROAD – 38TH TO 42ND STREETS
Camelback Road between 38th and 42nd streets will be restricted to two lanes in the westbound direction from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily, starting Saturday, April 20. These restrictions are due to construction related to a CenturyLink project.

All left turns at signalized intersections will be maintained.

Police officers will be onsite to assist with traffic control.

Drivers are cautioned that heavy activity and additional restrictions will be taking place in the area during evening and weekend hours.

All business access will be maintained.

Drivers are encouraged to allow for additional travel time during this period.


24TH STREET – OSBORN TO INDIAN SCHOOL ROADS
24th Street is restricted in both directions between Osborn and Indian School roads maintaining two lanes in the northbound direction and one lane in the southbound direction daily.  These restrictions are due to waterline construction related to a city of Phoenix Design and Construction Management project.

Project completion is anticipated for June.

Police officers are onsite to assist with traffic control.

Drivers are cautioned that heavy activity and additional restrictions will be taking place in the area during evening and weekend hours.

All business access is being maintained.

Drivers are encouraged to allow for additional travel time during this period.

SPECIAL EVENTS:

REOPENING AFTER RESTRICTIONS:
 

CAVE CREEK ROAD – JOMAX ROAD TO DYNAMITE BOULEVARD
Cave Creek Road between Jomax Road and Dynamite Boulevard is now open to normal traffic following the construction of a new signalized intersection, as part of a city of Phoenix Design and Construction Management project.

 

CONTINUING RESTRICTIONS:
 

· Arcadia Drive and Lafayette Boulevard – north of Indian School Road and east of 44th Street, complete restriction to through traffic and restricted to local/resident access only due to a Maricopa County Flood Control District and city of Phoenix joint project, with completion scheduled for May.

· Baseline Road at 14th Street, partial restriction due to a Street Transportation Department Design Construction Management storm drain installation and utility work, with completion scheduled for May.

· Cave Creek Road - Peak View Road to Tatum Boulevard, partial restriction due to construction of two manholes, as part of a city of Phoenix Water Services Department sanitary sewer project, with completion scheduled for mid-April.

· Jefferson Street – Central Avenue to First Street, partial restriction due to CityScape’s hotel construction, with completion scheduled for May.

· Village Drive – Camelback Road to 44th Street, full closure due to a Maricopa County Flood Control District and city of Phoenix major storm drain installation project, with completion scheduled for May.

· 19th Avenue, Grand Avenue and McDowell Road intersection, partial restriction due to an Arizona Department of Transportation improvement project of US 60 (Grand Avenue).

The project will include pavement improvements, road construction and new right-turn lanes and sidewalks at various locations.  New lighting, landscape, screen walls and fencing will be included in the project, with completion scheduled for December.

· 56th Street – State Route 101 to Deer Valley Road, partial restriction due to a city of Phoenix, Planning and Development Department storm drain project, with completion scheduled for May.
