City of Phoenix planned major street restrictions

Drivers should be aware of the following city of Phoenix roadway restrictions and are encouraged to allow for additional travel time:

NEW RESTRICTIONS:

BASELINE ROAD – SEVENTH TO 16TH STREETS

Baseline Road between Seventh and 16th streets is currently restricted due to a city of Phoenix Design and Construction Management storm drain installation project.

The project is expected to be completed in May.

Police officers will be onsite to assist with traffic control.

Drivers are encouraged to allow for additional travel time during this period.

12TH STREET – BETHANY HOME TO CAMELBACK ROADS

12th Street from Bethany Home Road to Missouri Avenue is scheduled to be closed in both directions starting on Monday, April 15 through Monday, April 22 on a 24-hour basis for the construction of a major storm drain at the 12th Street and Montebello Avenue intersection, as part of a city of Phoenix Design and Construction Management project.

During this closure, southbound traffic on 12th Street will be detoured at Bethany Home Road to Seventh Street.  Northbound traffic on 12th Street will be detoured at Camelback Road to 16th Street.

Local access will be maintained on 12th Street northbound from Missouri to Montebello Avenues.  Local access will be maintained southbound from Bethany Home Road to Montebello Avenue.

12th Street will reopen to normal traffic by 6 a.m. Monday, April 22.

Drivers are highly encouraged to use an alternate route or allow for additional travel time during this period.

75TH AVENUE – MCDOWELL ROAD TO INTERSTATE 10

75th Avenue between McDowell Road to Interstate 10 is scheduled to be closed at 7 p.m. Friday, April 12.  75th Avenue will reopen 7 a.m. Saturday, April 13.

Through southbound traffic will be detoured at McDowell Road to 67th or 91st avenues.

There will be no access onto Interstate 10 from southbound 75th Avenue.

Both eastbound and westbound Interstate 10 exits will be maintained at 75th Avenue.

Local and business access will be maintained.

The work is part of an Arizona Department of Transportation project for pavement preservation along Interstate 10.  ADOT contractors will be completing the work for this project.

Drivers are highly encouraged to use an alternate route or allow for additional travel time during this period.

83RD AVENUE – MCDOWELL ROAD TO INTERSTATE 10

83rd Avenue between McDowell Road and Interstate 10 is scheduled to be closed 8 p.m. Friday, April 12.  83rd Avenue will reopen 10 a.m. Saturday, April 13.

Through southbound traffic will be detoured at McDowell Road to 67th or 91st avenues.

There will be no access onto Interstate 10 from southbound 83rd Avenue.

Both eastbound and westbound Interstate 10 exits will be maintained at 83rd Avenue.

Local and business access will be maintained.

SPECIAL EVENTS:

FEAST ON FIRST –  2 - 10 P.M. SATURDAY, APRIL 13

First Street between Van Buren and Moreland streets will be closed to through traffic to stage this event from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday, April 13.

Police officers will be onsite to assist with traffic control.

Drivers are encouraged to allow for additional travel time during this period.

FIREFLY RUN – 7:30 P.M. SATURDAY, APRIL 13

This event will start and finish at 16th Avenue and Adams Street.

The following streets will be closed 6 p.m. Saturday, April 13:

• Washington Street – First to 19th avenues
• 17th Avenue – Adams to Jefferson streets
• Jefferson Street – First to 19th avenues
• Third Avenue – Jefferson to Washington streets

Police officers will be onsite to assist with traffic control.

All streets will be open to normal traffic 9 p.m. Saturday, April 13.

Drivers are encouraged to allow for additional travel time during this period.

MARCH FOR BABIES – 7:30 A.M. SATURDAY, APRIL 13

This event will start and finish at 16th Avenue and Adams Street.

The following streets will be closed 6 a.m. Saturday, April 13:
• Washington Street – First to 19th avenues
• 17th Avenue – Adams to Jefferson streets
• Jefferson Street – First to 19th avenues
• Third Avenue – Jefferson to Washington streets

Police officers will be onsite to assist with traffic control.

All streets will be open to normal traffic 11 a.m. Saturday, April 13.

Drivers are encouraged to use caution when driving through this area.

NORTH CENTRAL FAMILY 5K RUN/WALK AND 1-MILE FUN RUN/WALK –
8 A.M. SATURDAY, APRIL 13

This multi-event will begin and end in the north parking lot of the All Saints Church at 6300 N. Central Ave.  The event is estimated to last two hours and will utilize the curb lanes of Central Avenue, Bethany Home Road, Seventh and Glendale avenues.  Maryland Avenue between Central and Seventh avenues will be restricted during the event.

All streets and driveways will be closed along the route as the run/walk approaches and reopened as it proceeds.

All streets will be open to normal traffic by noon Saturday, April 13.

Drivers are encouraged to use caution when driving through this area.
 
ARCADIA FAMILY FUN RUN – 8 – 10 A.M. SUNDAY, APRIL 14

This event will take place in the neighborhood bounded by Arcadia Drive to 46th Street and Lafayette Boulevard to Exeter Boulevard.

These streets are scheduled to be closed to stage this event starting 7 - 10 a.m. Sunday, April 14.

All streets and driveways will be closed along the route as the run approaches and reopened as it proceeds.  Residential and business access will be maintained during this event.

Police officers will be onsite to assist with traffic control.

Drivers are encouraged to use caution when driving through this area.

BAISAKHI/VAISAKHI PARADE AND CELEBRATION – SUNDAY, APRIL 14

This religious procession will take place in the neighborhood bounded by Oak to Sheridan streets and Eighth to 12th streets.

Eighth, 12th, Oak, and Sheridan streets will be closed to through traffic to stage this event noon - 4 p.m. Sunday, April 14.

All other local streets and driveways will be closed along the route as the procession proceeds.  All streets will be open to normal traffic 4 p.m. Sunday, April 14.  Local and business access will be maintained.

Police officers will be onsite to assist with traffic control.

Drivers are encouraged to use caution when driving through this area.

REOPENING AFTER RESTRICTIONS:

None.

CONTINUING RESTRICTIONS:

• Arcadia Drive and Lafayette Boulevard – north of Indian School Road and east of 44th Street, complete restriction to through traffic and restricted to local/resident access only due to a Maricopa County Flood Control District and city of Phoenix joint project, with completion scheduled for May.

• Baseline Road at 14th Street, partial restriction due to a Street Transportation Department Design Construction Management storm drain installation and utility work, with completion scheduled for May.

• Cave Creek Road - Peak View Road to Tatum Boulevard, partial restriction due to construction of two manholes, as part of a city of Phoenix Water Services Department sanitary sewer project, with completion scheduled for mid-April.

• Cave Creek Road - Jomax Road to Dynamite Boulevard, partial restriction due to the construction of a new signalized intersection, as part of a city of Phoenix Design and Construction Management project, completion scheduled for late April.

• Jefferson Street – Central Avenue to First Street, partial restriction due to CityScape’s hotel construction, with completion scheduled for May.

• Village Drive – Camelback Road to 44th Street, full closure due to a Maricopa County Flood Control District and city of Phoenix major storm drain installation project, with completion scheduled for May.

• 19th Avenue, Grand Avenue and McDowell Road intersection, partial restriction due to an Arizona Department of Transportation improvement project of US 60 (Grand Avenue).  The project will include pavement improvements, road construction and new right-turn lanes and sidewalks at various locations.  New lighting, landscape, screen walls and fencing will be included in the project, with completion scheduled for December.

• 56th Street – State Route 101 to Deer Valley Road, partial restriction due to a city of Phoenix, Planning and Development Department storm drain project, with completion scheduled for May.
