PHOENIX -- Before you head out this weekend, make a note of these weekend freeway construction projects. Closures on Interstate 10 through Ahwatukee and the Loop 101 in the northwest Valley are likely to cause the biggest tie-ups.
*Eastbound Interstate 10 (toward Tucson) closed between US 60 (Superstition Freeway) and Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) from 10 p.m. Friday to 3 p.m. Saturday (Oct. 1) for overhead sign structure installation. Westbound US 60 ramp to eastbound I-10 closed. Eastbound I-10 ramps between Baseline Road and Chandler Boulevard closed. DETOUR: Drivers can use eastbound US 60 to southbound Loop 101 and westbound Loop 202 to reconnect with eastbound I-10.
*Westbound Loop 101 (Agua Fria Freeway) closed between 51st Avenue and Bell Road from 10 p.m. Friday to 9 a.m. Sunday (Oct. 2) for HOV lane work, including lane striping. Westbound on-ramps at 27th and 35th avenues closed. DETOUR: Please consider alternate routes, including Bell Road.
*Loop 101 (Agua Fria Freeway) narrowed to two lanes in both directions between Bell and Bethany Home roads from 10 p.m. Friday to 9 a.m. Sunday (Oct. 2) for HOV lane work, including rubberized asphalt paving.
*Southbound Loop 101 (Agua Fria Freeway) narrowed to one lane between Indian School and Thomas roads from 10 p.m. Friday to 10 a.m. Saturday (Oct. 1) for HOV lane project, including new light pole installation. DETOUR: Please use caution in work zone and consider an alternate route.
*Eastbound Loop 101 (Agua Fria Freeway) narrowed to one lane overnight between 51st and 35th avenues from 11:30 p.m. Saturday to 9 a.m. Sunday (Oct. 2) for sign work. Expect intermittent ramp closures in the area.
