PHOENIX -- In time for Thanksgiving travel next week, the Arizona Department of Transportation is set to open new northbound I-17 lanes between Jomax Road and the Carefree Highway.
The new northbound I-17 lanes include a carpool lane along the five-mile section north of Jomax Road.
ADOT said the roadway opening is the latest milestone for a massive $142 million project to add much-needed traffic capacity between Loop 101 and Carefree Highway.
ADOT previously opened two new northbound lanes between Loop 101 and Jomax Road on November 9 and two new southbound lanes between Happy Valley Road and Loop 101 on October 29.
