PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) -

Be on the lookout in your inbox and mailbox, thousands of Arizonans will soon be receiving restitution claims forms for settlement money following the Arizona Attorney General's Office lawsuit against Volkswagen over their "clean diesel" car scandal.

This last May, the AG's office reached a settlement with Volkswagen to resolve consumer fraud claims involving their diesel engine scandal.

Under the agreed-upon settlement, Volkswagon will pay Arizona consumers more than $10 million, up to $1,000 for every qualifying vehicle sold and leased in the state between 2008 and 2015.

More than 11,000 eligible Arizona consumers were identified by a third-party administrator. Over the last several days, claims forms were mailed and emailed to those individuals.

Consumers must return their completed forms to the claims administrator within 90 days to be eligible for restitution and restitution checks will be distributed in November. Consumers will have 180 days to cash their checks.

The settlement negotiated by the Attorney General's Office also provided an additional $20 million to be directed to Arizona's general fund for education purposes.

Eligible Arizonans are still eligible to receive payments for this settlement regardless of whether they have received money from other Volkswagen-related settlements.

If you have any questions, consumers can reach the claims administrator toll-free at 1-866-507-8035, Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Arizona time.
