PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) -

While the other candidates for the U.S. Senate seat from Arizona are running to the right during this election season, the lone candidate running to the left is Deedra Abboud.

Abboud is a civil rights attorney, who rose to prominence after the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. Abboud is Muslim and became the public voice of the Islamic faith in the Valley during a time when the religion was viewed suspiciously by many Arizonans.
