PHOENIX (AAA ARIZONA)-- AAA’s Via Blog is serving up a “flight” of the top microbreweries in the West:

Full Sail Brewing Company

  • Meet the people behind the pints at Full Sail Brewing Company’s converted cannery in Hood River, Oregon.
  • Here you can follow the beer from its locally sourced ingredients to its award-winning brews.
  • In addition, you’ll learn a number of fun facts on the free tour, including how the company manages to make a gallon of beer using just three gallons of water when other breweries need as many as 10.

Lagunitas Brewing Company

  • Lagunitas Brewing Company offers an easygoing tour at its Northern California brewery in Petaluma.
  • After the free tour, head over to the brewery’s taproom and “beer sanctuary” to try the brewery’s latest limited release and live music.

New Belgium Brewing

  • Located in Fort Collins, Colorado, this brewery employs a full-time director of fun who works to create a variety of entertaining brewery experiences.
  • Options range from a free, public tour that includes beer sampling and a trip down a slide to the Walk in the Words Tour, which allows guests to taste from their barrels and craft their own blend for $65 per person.

Deschutes Brewery

  •  Located in Bend, Oregon, Deschutes Brewery offers “beerventures” seven days a week.
  • The guided tour is $5 per person, which includes a can of beer to enjoy along the way.
  • The tour takes you through two brewhouses, the fermentation cellar and sensory tasting room, where employees learn to detect flavors and aromas in Deschutes products.

Four Peaks Brewing Company

  • You can’t talk about craft beer without talking about Four Peaks, which is home to Kiltlifter, Arizona's top-selling craft beer.
  • The brewery offers free, hour-long tours at its two production facilities in Tempe.
  • The tours provide an overview of the brewing process, a look into the bottling and canning lines, and a pint at the end.
  • No matter where you hit the ale trail, remember to enjoy your “beercation” responsibly by planning ahead to get home or to your hotel safely.
