With dust - and some spotty rain - causing havoc in the Phoenix area Sunday night, now is a good time to prepare for the full onslaught of the monsoon season.

During the monsoon season, which began on June 15 and ends on Sept. 30, several cities around the Valley will be offering sand and sandbags to help protect your home from flooding.

Check out the list below for your city and where you might be able to grab sandbags.

Sandbags may be provided as needed based on the forecast and the location of the sandbags may change based on forecasted rainfall.

However, Phoenix highly recommends flood barriers as opposed to sandbags due to their self-activating technology and they are reusable. They can be found online or at local hardware stores.

Tempe offers sand and sandbags at two locations throughout the monsoon season. They can be picked up 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
