SCOTTSDALE, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) -

A local Arcadia family opened up a unique edible cookie dough store after getting the idea on a trip in New York.

Unbaked, an edible cookie dough store, opened their doors for the first time on June 22 in Old Town Scottsdale.

Owner Perry Peterson got the concept from his daughter after she took a trip to New York, where she visited a cookie dough shop that was skyrocketing with popularity.

So the family thought, if people are willing to stand outside in a snowstorm, what's stopping them from standing outside in the Arizona heat?

With Peterson's background in business and mortgage and his daughter's background in restaurants and hospitality, they took on this new challenge.

Their goal was simple, create a cool dessert destination with a menu of unique house-made cookie dough and ice cream flavors.

Peterson spent years developing recipes for cookie dough including gluten-free and vegan options. They serve over 10 flavors of cookie dough and six ice cream flavors to choose from.

You can mix and match in a cup, cone or ice cream sandwich. The cherry on top? They offer catering at events.

Check out unbaked at 3712 N. Scottsdale Road and visit their website, getunbaked.com.
