Did Old Man Winter forget to come to Arizona?

Monday we tied a record for the warmest temperature on this day. We hit a temperature of 83 degrees at 4:32 p.m. That ties the record set in 1935.

The Phoenix area usually doesn't hit 83 degrees until early April.

Meteorologists say the unusually warm winter weather is due to a strong area of high pressure that has settled over the Southwest.

Phoenix's all-time record high for January is 88 degrees set on Jan. 19, 1971.

High pressure will keep things sunny and temperatures around 80 degrees for the rest of this week, which is way above average for late January and early February in Phoenix.
